It is a common belief that once a person is identified as HIV positive,
they cannot marry. GSNP+ has proven this belief wrong by establishing
a Marriage Bureau specifically for people living with HIV/AIDS. We firmly
believe that marriage is a fundamental right of every individual, fulfilling both physical
and psychological needs.
While it is true that if a person living with HIV marries someone who is not infected, there
is a risk of HIV transmission, this risk is eliminated when both partners are living with HIV.
Marriages between HIV-positive individuals not only prevent further transmission but
also provide them with the opportunity to lead fulfilling lives filled with joy and
companionship.
GSNP+ founded the Marriage Bureau for people living with HIV/AIDS with this vision, and
since its inception in 2005, we have successfully organized eleven large-scale Marriage
Fairs, resulting in over 421 couples finding life partners and tying the knot.
The success of this initiative goes beyond just arranging marriages. Many couples, with
the support of doctors and counselors, have practiced proper family planning and now
have HIV-negative children. This not only brings happiness and fulfillment to the couples
but also offers hope and inspiration to others in the community.
The GSNP+ Marriage Bureau is a testament to the fact that people living with HIV/AIDS
can have fulfilling relationships and families, and it continues to be a source of
empowerment and support for those seeking love and companionship.
